Clean Kyocera Mita printer

If you have a Kyocera Mita printer, you know there is a lot of preventative maintenance you must to as an owner to keep it up and running properly. Every time you replace your toner cartridges, you should actually be cleaning your printer. This extends the life of the printer tremendously and it also keeps your prints coming out sharp and clear. While all Kyocera machines are different and may have minor differences in how to replace cartridges and clean the printer, for the most part the Mita printers all are very similar when cleaning. To clean your Kyocera Mita printer, start out by opening up the top cover. Take a brush and brush any debris from your printer. If your unit has a drum, make sure to remove that next. Try not to keep it out and exposed to direct sunlight for more than five minutes. This can actually cause damage to the drum. Once you remove the drum, you have access to the transfer unit for paper. With a cleaning cloth, gently wipe down the transfer unit. Make sure this cloth is both dry and soft.

Inside the unit there is a green cleaning knob—this is located only on Kyocera Mita printers. You want to pull this green knob about two to three times. This cleans the unit’s charger. When done, return the knob to the “home” position.

Afterwards, brush any debris you see inside the paper tray. You will want to be extra careful that you do not brush any extra debris into the printer.

Once you are done printing, close the unit. If the display on the screen shows that you are ready to print, you have completed everything you need. If it does not, you may need to try again.
